Programs and Youth Development Coordinator (Full-time, Salary-based) 

CAIR-Sacramento Valley is looking for a passionate and talented individual to fill the Programs and Youth Development Coordinator position at its Sacramento office. Join one of the most dynamic teams defending civil rights on behalf of the American Muslim community, promoting civic engagement, and building coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding. 

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will play a central role in promoting civic engagement among the Muslim community by creating and administering educational and community programs and platforms for leadership.

The Programs and Youth Development Coordinator will work with Islamic centers, MSAs, and other faith communities and communities of color on a variety of social justice issues.  Responsibilities include: 

  • Coordinating CAIR’s flagship programs including Know Your Rights workshops, Muslim Day at the Capitol, Annual Banquet, and the Muslim Youth Leadership Program.
  • Working with Islamic centers, MSAs, and other faith communities and communities of color on a variety of social justice issues.
  • Recruiting, managing, and engaging interns and volunteers.
  • Providing presence at relevant organizations’ (college campuses, nonprofits, mosques, etc.) events, activities, and meetings.
  • Proofreads reports and written documentation
  • Produce reports for internal team meetings and board members.
  • Supervising interns to support department needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Creating engaging and interactive curriculum which fosters leadership skills and civic engagement among Muslim youth.

Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Ideal candidates possess experience working with youth and/or community organizing
  • Previous experience working in multicultural organizing spaces
  • Previous engagement with the American Muslim community and with social justice issues
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills. Experience with facilitation and public speaking.
  • Ability to convey information in a professional and diplomatic manner
  • Self-directed individual, strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple ongoing initiatives
