Rohingya-campOne Step Closer to House Resolution on Persecution of Muslims in Burma

Today, House Resolution 418 was adopted unanimously by the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific. On behalf of the House of Representatives, the resolution calls on the Government of Burma (Myanmar) to end the persecution of its Rohingya minority and respect internationally-recognized human rights for all ethnic and religious groups within Burma.

For the resolution to be adopted by the U.S. House of Representatives, next steps include adoption by the House Foreign Affairs Committee and passage on the House floor.

CAIR continues to urge the hundreds of concerned citizens who responded to our action alert to continue asking their members of Congress to support the co-sponsor H. Res. 418 and urge their colleagues on the House Foreign Affairs Committee to do the same.

In order for the resolution to receive the House Foreign Affairs Committee’s full consideration, it will need additional co-sponsors. CAIR has provided a click and send letter addressed to your House representative urging that they support the Muslims of Burma and co-sponsoring the H. Res. 418.
