CAIR Action Alert: Tell Congress to Push Back on Trump’s ‘Muslim Ban’ Order

CAIR logo(WASHINGTON, D.C., 1/25/17) – The Council on American-Islamic-Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, is calling on all Americans to urge their elected members of Congress to push back against President Trump’s ‘Muslim Ban’ Executive Order, a disturbing confirmation of Islamophobic and un-American policy proposals made during the presidential election campaign.

TAKE ACTION TODAY – URGE YOUR REPRESENTATIVES IN CONGRESS TO PUSH BACK!

According to a leaked copy of the executive order that could still be changed before it is signed into effect, Trump is calling for:

  •          Blocking the resettlement of Syrian refugees
  •          Suspending all refugee admissions for the next 120 days while it determines which counties pose a risk
  •          Suspending visas for citizens of certain counties where it is deemed security screening is insufficient. A list of those countries is forthcoming.
  •          Cutting more than half the number of refugees admitted into the U.S. down to 50,000
  •          Imposing a religious and ideological litmus test on those coming to this nation.
  •          Only giving religious minorities priority in refugee admissions - for example accepting Christian refugees from Syria but not Muslims.
  •          Only giving religious minorities priority in refugee admissions - for example accepting Christian refugees from Syria but not Muslims.

CAIR is calling on all members of Congress to oppose this executive order by making statements, writing dear colleague letters, and pushing the Administration, State Department, Department of Homeland Security and Department of Justice to oppose these discriminatory policies which Muslims are the sole targets of.

CAIR is America's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.

La misión de CAIR es mejorar la comprensión del Islam, fomentar el diálogo, proteger las libertades civiles, capacitar a los musulmanes estadounidenses, y construir coaliciones que promuevan la justicia y la comprensión mutua.
