"Five decades after the 1963 March on Washington, our nation still struggles to cope and heal from the wounds created by a long-standing legacy of racism," said CAIR's Maryland Outreach Manager Zainab Chaudry. "The African American community has borne the brunt of this pain, and the injustice of it cannot be ignored. Americans must stand in solidarity and work to eliminate structural racism that has become so normalized and ingrained within our society."

CAIR is the nation's largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
