"The hallmark of a pluralistic society is that people of diverse backgrounds can coexist peacefully without being targeted or threatened because of their race, religion or ethnicity," said CAIR Maryland Outreach Manager Zainab Chaudry. "These kinds of attacks not only jeopardize the security and safety of the victims, they also foster an atmosphere of fear and mistrust."

CAIR is America's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
