The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today said new recognition of the state of Palestine by Western nations must come with “concrete action” against Israel’s occupation and genocide.
The UK, Canada and Australia have now recognized Palestine.

In a statement, Washington, D.C., based CAIR said:
“Although we welcome Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom’s long overdue decision to recognize the State of Palestine, this step will change nothing on the ground if it is not accompanied by concrete action against the Israeli occupation, including an arms embargo, sanctions and support for international tribunals investigating its crimes against humanity.”
Last week, CAIR called Israel’s daily slaughter of men, women and children in Gaza – with U.S. support – a “mark of shame” as the official, significantly-undercounted death toll passed 65,000.
