#CAIRSnapshots Video: In 2011, CAIR Opens New Department to Challenge Islamophobia, Submits First Muslim Amicus Brief to Supreme Court

(WASHINGTON, D.C., 10/22/19) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today released the latest “CAIR Snapshots” video highlighting a quarter century of “defending, educating and empowering the American Muslim community.”

[NOTE: Use #CAIRSnapshots on Twitter to view all the short videos highlighting CAIR’s important work over the past quarter century.]

Today’s snapshot features how in 2011, CAIR (along with the University of California at Berkeley) opened a new department to monitor and combat Islamophobia. The department published “Same Hate, New Target,” a report on growing Islamophobia in America.

Also in 2011, CAIR filed the first-ever American Muslim organization U.S. Supreme Court amicus (“friend of the court”) brief in United States v. Jones supporting the requirement that law enforcement obtain a warrant before placing a GPS tracking device on any individual's car.
