Sweeping changes in immigration laws have eroded the due
process protection afforded to immigrants, an American Bar Association
report said Wednesday. Due process, or fair and complete legal proceedings,
is guaranteed by the Constitution.
The report was produced jointly by the ABA and the Leadership Conference on
Civil Rights Education Fund.
The ABA said the report, "American Justice Through Immigrants' Eyes,"
details how "seven years of changes in the nation's immigration laws have
created a two-tiered justice system for American immigrants, and recommends
ways to restore immigrants' due process rights…
