“Voting is one of the most meaningful ways that citizens can participate in the democratic process and affect change in their communities and the nation,” said CAIR Director of Government Affairs Robert S. McCaw. “Especially during off-year elections when turnout is lower, it is essential that Muslim voters go to the polls and make their voices heard.”

McCaw noted that California, Colorado, Connecticut, D.C., Hawaii, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, Utah, Vermont, Washington state, Wisconsin, and Wyoming allow unregistered voters to register on election day.

ACTION REQUESTED:

• Go to the polls on Tuesday, November 5, and vote for the candidates of your choice.
• Remind and encourage your friends and family members to vote.
• Use social media to encourage all eligible voters to go to the polls.
• Offer to help friends, co-workers and family members get to the polls.
• Community leaders should use their communications networks to encourage congregations to vote.
• Convince one person who did not plan to vote to go to the polls.
