CAIR Condemns Racial Slurs Targeting Virginia Church

(WASHINGTON, D.C., 7/5/19) - The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned racial slurs carved into two church vans outside Emmanuel Presbyterian Mission Church in Woodbridge, Va.

Prince William County police report that between midnight June 26 and midnight July 3, someone carved "anti-African American speech" into vans parked in the rear lot of the church.

“We condemn this apparently bias-motivated vandalism and urge political and religious leaders to speak out against the growing bigotry in our nation that results in such crimes,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper.

Earlier this month, CAIR condemned neo-Nazi graffiti found at a pool house in Gainesville, Va. Prince William County police are investigating the Nazi swastikas as a hate crime.

Last Month, CAIR called on law enforcement authorities in Virginia to investigate a possible bias motive for a doll painted black found hanging by its neck on playground equipment in Campbell County’s Evington community.
