“Governor Abbott’s decision to not resettle refugees in Texas goes directly against American values, human dignity and morality and even the scriptures of all Abrahamic faiths.
The Statue of Liberty calls to the world: ‘Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.’ The governor’s decision is an affront to the welcoming spirit that defines our nation and the values that all Americans hold dear.”

“As Texans, we are proud to welcome refugees to our state and ashamed by the morally bankrupt decision by our Governor that scapegoats the most vulnerable in our community,” said CAIR-DFW Executive Director Faizan Syed. “We welcome the court’s injunction but continue to work passionately to stand for refugees and give them a voice.”
