(WASHINGTON, D.C., 9/26/19) - The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation's largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today expressed solidarity with the Jewish community in North Carolina after white supremacist materials were found at Temple Emanuel in Winston-Salem, N.C., and on a blog naming the synagogue.
Officials say that perpetrators of the hate incident have been identified and that they have stepped-up security at the synagogue.

“We condemn this act of anti-Semitic hate and stand in solidarity with the North Carolina Jewish community,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper. “Americans of all faiths and backgrounds must take a stand against the growing white supremacist threat that is being emboldened by rhetoric and policies emanating from the highest level of our society.”
Hooper said CAIR and the American Muslim community have in the past expressed solidarity with Jewish, Christian, immigrant, Native American, African-American, Sikh, and other targeted minority communities nationwide following acts of hate, threats, violence, vandalism, arson or bombings.
He noted that yesterday, CAIR called on North Carolina Lieutenant Governor Dan Forest to withdraw from an event that is scheduled to feature several Islamophobic speakers.
