CAIR-FL: Florida is Hate Group Hot Spot

FLORIDA IS HATE GROUP HOT SPOT

The Islamic Education Center in Tampa is one example of how hatred towards a group can intensify.

Enough for someone to light a match last month and set the building on fire.

A few months ago in Polk County, Ryan Keith Skipper was stabbed to death because of his gay lifestyle. This sort of hatred against others hasn't stopped.

Hate Crimes are a major problem in Florida. Recent numbers show Florida ranks third in the nation when it comes to hate groups.

WMNF True Talk co-host Ahmed Bedier is Executive Director for the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR). He said a flyer that was passed around a Pinellas Park Walmart last week slamming Muslims was hate propaganda.

"It's really frustrating when we see these types of things because, again, they are on the border of free speech and hate crimes," Bedier said.

He's afraid this is proof there's an increase in the number of hate groups.
