COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR
Candidates for this position must demonstrate strong aptitude for written and oral communications as well as advocacy work. The Coordinator will work directly with the Executive Director.
Duties: The Coordinator’s duties will include but not be limited to:
* Build, maintain and standardize the processes and databases of the communications department.
* Maintain and build relationships with editors, reporters, producers, and other media professionals.
* Conduct and appropriately field media interviews.
* Draft and edit all external communications, including: press statements/releases, e-mails, e-newsletters and action alerts.
* Edit and maintain the website content.
* Media watch: local media research, monitoring and responding.
* Manage communications interns/externs.
* Conduct media trainings and workshops.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate should have the following:
* Excellent oral communication skills; strong organizational and time management skills required;
* 1-3 years communications or journalism experience;
* The ability to work quickly and well under pressure;
* Interpersonal and professional communication skills required;
* A Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in the field of journalism;
* Passion for the mission of the Council on American-Islamic Relations;
* Excellent writing and editing skills required;
* Knowledge of IT/internet functions and the ability to type 40 w.p.m. preferred
* Video capturing and editing a plus.

OUTREACH COORDINATOR
Candidates for this position must demonstrate strong aptitude for community organizing and advocacy work. The Coordinator will work closely with the Executive Director to fulfill local community outreach functions.
Duties: The Coordinator’s duties will include but not be limited to:
* Establish and maintain solid relationships with the local community members
* Implement and manage the Internship, Externship and Volunteer programs;
* Empower the community by organizing workshops, trainings and programs
* Implement local Youth Leadership Programs;
* Establish and maintain appropriate relationship with local organizations and interfaith community
* Conduct membership drives and CAIR orientation events; and
* Maintain a comprehensive calendar of local outreach activities.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate should have the following:
* Strong organizational and time management skills required;
* 1-3 years community organizing experience;
* The ability to work quickly and well under pressure, along with building positive community relationships is required;
* Diplomatic and professional communication skills required;
* A Bachelor’s degree is required;
* Passion for the mission of the Council on American-Islamic Relations;
* Excellent writing and editing skills required; and
* Working Knowledge of PowerPoint and the ability to type 40 w.p.m. preferred
