(MIAMI, FL, 8/17/2018) -- The Florida chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Florida) today condemned last Tuesday’s appearance of Rep. Brian Mast (R-Fla.) on the Right Side Patriots radio show hosted by anti-Islam commentators bashing American Muslim candidates for committing “ballot box jihad.”
It has been reported that on the August 14th radio show hosted by Diane Sori and Craig Andersen, Congressman Mast did not make any anti-Muslim comments, however, following Mast’s appearance, both commentators went on to accuse American Muslim political candidates of committing “ballot box jihad.”
CAIR-Florida Communications Director Wilfredo Amr Ruiz, stated:
“We condemn the congressman’s decision to be a participant on this far-right radio program and call on elected officials from both parties to speak out on this matter. It is immoral for any elected official to engage, sponsor or participate in far-right radio programs with a clear agenda of spreading hate and Islamophobia. His actions only contribute to the incessant wave of hate incidents and hate crimes that our community continues to experience, especially since the last elections.”
CAIR is America's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance understanding of Islam, protect civil rights, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
