(FARMINGTON HILLS, MI, 6/19/2018) — The Michigan chapter of Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MI), a chapter of the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today offered $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the perpetrator of an apparent racist hate crime this morning in Vienna Township.
The vehicle of an African-American man was vandalized in his driveway with a racial slur, Nazi swastika and “wite [sic] pride. The vehicle’s tires were also slashed. The FBI, along with local law enforcement, is investigating the incident as a hate crime.

“We call on anyone who has knowledge of this heinous act of intimidation to immediately contact Genesee County Sheriff office or the FBI,” said CAIR-MI Executive Director Dawud Walid. “This racist incident is especially troubling given that it took place on Juneteeth, a day in which African Americans celebrate emancipation from chattel slavery.”
