CAIR-MI to Host First Muslim Congresswoman from Michigan at Annual Banquet

(FARMINGTON HILLS, MI, 3/14/19) – On Sunday, March 17, the Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MI), a chapter of the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, will host Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib who is the first Muslim to serve in Congress from Michigan at its 19th annual banquet with the theme “Faith Led, Justice Driven,” at Burton Manor in Livonia, MI. 

Also speaking to banquet attendees along with Rep. Tlaib will be American Muslim scholar and activist Omar Suleiman from Yaqeen Institute based in Irving, TX. 

The event will highlight the state of Muslim civil rights in Michigan including a few breakthroughs as well as a number of growing challenges.
