NATIONAL SECURITY EXPERTS TO ADDRESS CAIR-OHIO BANQUET
(CLEVELAND, OH, 5/14/07) - On June 3, the Cleveland chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Ohio) will hold its fifth annual banquet and fundraiser, with the theme "American Muslims: Connecting & Sharing." Renowned experts will reflect on America's national security strategy and policies in the post-9/11 era.
Dr. Robert A. Pape, University of Chicago political science professor and Director of the Program for International Security Politics, will discuss his groundbreaking study entitled "Dying to Win: The Strategic Logic of Suicide Terrorism." Dr. John Mueller, the Woody Hayes Chair of National Security Studies at Ohio State University, will discuss his book Overblown: How Politicians and the Terrorism Industry Inflate National Security Threats, and Why We Believe Them.
Dr. Parvez Ahmed, CAIR National Board Chairman, will speak on the challenges facing American Muslims and the need to stay connected and engaged. Imam Johari Abdul Malik of the Dar Al-Hijrah mosque in northern Virginia will speak about the commitment needed to carry forward CAIR's mission and vision. The program includes an authors' reception, book signing, and dinner.
