The Oklahoma chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations and the Muslim Student Association of the University of Oklahoma will hold a screening of the documentary film "Prince Among Slaves” from 7 to 8:30 tonight in Dale Hall, Room 200, 433 Lindsey.
The free screening will kick off a new "Film of the Month” series sponsored by the council, which seeks to educate Americans about Islam through film.
Razi Hashmi, council executive director, said "Prince Among Slaves” tells the story of an African Muslim prince who survived 40 years of enslavement in America before finally regaining his freedom in 1828 and becoming one of the most famous men of his day.
The screening will be followed by discussion of the film.
