CAIR-PA: LOCAL GROUP PRAISES FBI, URGES FELLOW MUSLIMS TO BE VIGILANT
Local Muslims joined their nationwide advocacy group yesterday in praising federal law-enforcement efforts that stopped a possible terrorist attack on Fort Dix, N.J.
"We are happy that the FBI has been so vigilant," said Samia Malik of Hampden Twp., director of communications for the central Pennsylvania chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
If the six suspects are found guilty of plotting to kill American soldiers, "they need the punishment they deserve," she said.
"We continue to urge American Muslims to be vigilant in reporting any suspected criminal activities that could harm the safety and security of our nation," said a statement from CAIR's national office in Washington.
"We applaud the FBI for its efforts and repeat the American Muslim community's condemnation and repudiation of all those who would plan or carry out acts of terror while falsely claiming their actions have religious justification," the statement said.
