South Florida Muslims launched an ad campaign Tuesday with banners on more than 120 buses urging Floridians to learn more about Islam.
For eight weeks, buses in Broward and Miami-Dade counties will carry messages like "Islam: Got Questions? Get answers." Ads include a Web site address and telephone number where people can get accurate and objective information about Islam, according to the Council on American-Islamic Relations, which organized the project.
The council says the $60,000 campaign comes in response to the widespread distribution in September of Obsession: Radical Islam's War Against the West, a controversial film about a small number of radical Muslim terrorists.
