Grace Community church's Tim Dillard says the idea is to change our moral compass. "What the crosses are there to do is shock people's paradigm and get people to start thinking about doing something a little bit differently, I think."
But Humanists of Houston president Daniel Strain says the church's money could be better spent. "I would say that money would be better spent on helping the poor and helping the needy."
Jews and Muslims don't seem to have a problem with the Cross Project. Martin Kaminsky is regional director of the Anti-Defamation League. "I think the ADL accepts the right that a faith group can put a faith symbol on their own property."
