BOYLES ON THE "ARAB WORLD": "YOU CAN BEAT YOUR WOMAN UP OVER THERE ... PUT THE PIMP HAND ON HER"
Discussing the criminal history of a jailed Iraqi immigrant who is suing U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-CO), 630 KHOW-AM host Peter Boyles stated on the March 28 broadcast of his show, "[T]he guy comes from the Arab world. You can beat your woman up over there." Boyles added, "Don't tell me it's not true, 'cause it's true. You know, put the pimp hand on her -- you know, I'll straighten her out."
Tancredo also appeared on the show to talk about his potential presidential campaign, but Boyles did not disclose that he has helped raise funds for Tancredo's possible bid.
Before making his comments about the "Arab world," Boyles read from a March 28 Rocky Mountain News article that reported:
A jailed Iraqi immigrant has sued Rep. Tom Tancredo for $5 million, saying that the congressman defamed him during a controversy over so-called catch-and-release immigration enforcement last year.
The immigrant, Gavan Alkadi, 46, reportedly emigrated to the U.S. at age 15, but has been in legal limbo for the past several years. He faces deportation proceedings prompted by his various brushes with the law.
Colorado Bureau of Investigation records show he has been arrested more than 30 times in Colorado since 1981 on suspicion of offenses that include DUI and assault. Many of those charges were dismissed.
After reading that Alkadi had been sentenced to jail for domestic violence and obstructing police, Boyles stated:
BOYLES: Now, part of this may be just because this guy, and I know this is going to make everybody mad -- the guy comes from the Arab world. You can beat your woman up over there. You can, seriously. Think about it. I mean, you know the role of women in the Muslim society. Don't tell me it's not true, 'cause it's true. You know, put the pimp hand on her -- you know, I'll straighten her out.
