A fire at a house owned by the Dalton Islamic Center is being called suspicious. The blaze broke out Christmas morning.
Leaders of the Islamic Center are offering a $2,000 reward for any information that leading to the cause of the blaze.
Fire officials say no power was connected to the house at the time of the fire. The president of the center thinks the fire was set deliberately, after opposition from residents about building a new mosque.
President of the Dalton Islamic Center Hammad El-Ameen says, "I think it's very hateful and evil that someone would come onto our property and do this, and so we intend to resolve the matter...helping law enforcement."
Construction of the new mosque began in early December. It's expected to be finished later this year and should hold about 300 people.
