I watched Bill Moyer’s program on PBS recently. He was talking about the Christian Zionists and Christians for Jews, and presented information from some of them. I really have a problem with their interpretation of the Bible. They believe that the land of Israel and the land around it belongs to the Jews, and the Palestinians have no right to any of the land.
In the first two chapters of Genesis, we read two different accounts of the creation of man.
Nowhere does it say that God created the Jews, the Moslems, or the Christians. It just says that He created man. Doesn’t that mean that we are all God’s children, whether Jew, Muslem, or Christian or anyone else?
God gave Moses the Ten Commandments. First He tells them to love him above all else.
Then He tells us not to commit evil against others. He doesn’t say just against our own select group.
When Jesus was asked by the lawyer who his neighbor was, he gave the parable of the good Samaritan, in which he tells about a badly injured man.
The Jewish clerics would not help, but the Samaritan, an outcast, provided assistance including paying for a place for him to stay.
Jesus also told us to love even our enemy as ourselves. In addition, he said that if we cannot love our fellow man whom we see, we cannot love God, whom we cannot see.
