DEARBORN: ACLU APPROVES FOOT BATHS

The Detroit branch of the American Civil Liberties Union has concluded a plan by the University of Michigan-Dearborn to spend $25,000 on foot baths for Muslims poses no constitutional problems. The group deemed it a "reasonable accommodation" to solve an issue that arose when Muslims used public sinks for the cleansings, Kary Moss, the branch's executive director, said Tuesday. "There's no intent to promote religion," she said.
