NC: SUSPECTED ARSON AT NC ISLAMIC CENTER
Authorities in Rockingham County are investigating a series of fires they believe were intentionally set along N.C. Highway 87 this week.
Fires were set along the highway between Williamsburg and Reidsville early Monday.
"This type of behavior doesn't fit in with typical fire-setter characteristics," county Fire Marshal Robert Cardwell said Wednesday.
Cardwell said fires were set in two trash cans, on the porch at the Islamic Center of the Piedmont, several small blazes in wooded areas and in a vacant house. The first fire call was made at 2:30 a.m.
The total loss was estimated at $30,000.
