(WASHINGTON D.C., 9/28/22) – On Saturday, October 29, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, plans to hold its 28th annual gala featuring a keynote address by esteemed professor, author and justice activist Dr. Cornel West.
Dr. West is the Dietrich Bonhoeffer Chair at Union Theological Seminary where he teaches courses in Philosophy of Religion, African American Critical Thought, and a wide range of subjects — including but by no means limited to, the classics, philosophy, politics, cultural theory, literature, and music. As one of our nation’s most significant intellectuals and thinkers, Dr. West seeks to “keep alive the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. – a legacy of telling the truth and bearing witness to love and justice.”
CAIR’s gala theme, “Securing the Blessings of Faith and Democracy,” highlights CAIR’s positive impact on the civil rights of Americans of all faiths and backgrounds over the last 28 years and the organization’s shared vision for social justice.
“We invite all those concerned about preserving civil and religious rights – and democracy itself – to join us at CAIR’s annual gala for an evening of education, enlightenment and entertainment,” said CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad.
Past galas have been sold out.
