Seeking to restore balance to our national conversations about both religion and immigration, a bi-partisan group of U.S. Representatives yesterday introduced the Freedom of Religion Act.
The bill, led by Rep. Don Beyer (D-Va.), prohibits religious litmus tests for people seeking to enter the United States. While religious profiling undermines American ideals, there is currently no law that prohibits such tests in our immigration system.  Â
More than one hundred organizations, including CAIR, have already offered support for the bill.Â

CAIR believes that America must uphold its ideals of religious tolerance and welcoming the stranger, or else our nation will face a diminishing role at the table of international leadership.
