On Tuesday, April 2, the Michigan Chapter of Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MI), a local chapter of the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, plans to release its annual civil rights report detailing Michigan specific information and data.
The Release of CAIR-MI’s civil rights report will follow News Conference detailing the release of CAIR National’s release of the annual civil rights report detailing nationwide data and examines this rise of incidents in the context of the genocide against Palestinians in Gaza in late 2023 and details the various lived experiences targeting Muslims both during and before this time. The National report will offer multiple recommendations for public officials to take in light of new data findings.
CAIR-MI’s report titled “Gaza & The Rise in Bigotry Against Michigan Muslims,” the report documents one of the worst waves of Islamophobia and anti-Muslim bigotry witnessed in the chapter’s – more than 20-year history.
