CAIR Asks Florida Firearms Manufacturer to Explain ‘Muslim Stoppers’ Button

DSC9193(WASHINGTON, D.C., 6/16/17) — The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today called on Florida-based SCCY Firearms to explain a promotional button issued by that company claiming its handguns are “Real Muslim Stoppers.”

CAIR said the button in question was sent to its Washington, D.C., headquarters by a concerned citizen.

“On its face, this button would seem to promote violence targeting American Muslims, since the manufacturer produces civilian weapons,” said CAIR Department to Monitor and Combat Islamophobia Director Corey Saylor.

The company has not yet replied to CAIR’s concerns.

CAIR has noted an unprecedented spike in hate incidents targeting Muslims and other minority groups since the November 8 election.
