(PHOENIX, AZ, 8/26/2022) – The Arizona chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-AZ) today condemned a planned speaking appearance by a white supremacist at an event to be hosted by a Republican student group at Arizona State University (ASU).
The event, scheduled for Sept. 2, will feature white nationalist speaker and author Jared Taylor. A self-proclaimed “white advocate,” Taylor has promoted pseudoscientific theories on race and IQ. Following backlash after the announcement of Taylor’s planned visit, an ASU spokesman said that student organizations are permitted to use university facilities for events. He also said the presence of a speaker on campus in no way implies endorsement from the university.

Student Group Invites White Nationalist Jared Taylor to Arizona State University
“We condemn the promotion of this hateful white supremacist ideology on a college campus and urge students and faculty to stand together in repudiation of white nationalism and racism,” said CAIR-AZ Executive Director Azza Abuseif.
She said CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
