(SAN DIEGO, CA, 10/3/07) – A representative of the San Diego chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-San Diego) participated yesterday in a panel discussion entitled “Faith-Based Public Interest Agencies” sponsored by the University of San Diego (USD) School of Law.
More than a dozen first- and second-year law students from USD attended the lecture. The purpose of the discussion was to expose law students to different faith-based organizations that deal with social advocacy and civil rights issues within the paradigm of the law.
CAIR San Diego Public Relations Director Edgar Hopida gave an overview of CAIR’s civil rights and advocacy work. Among the other panelists were representatives from the YMCA and Catholic Charities.
