The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and its Florida chapter (CAIR-FL), today called on political leaders in Florida and across the nation to unequivocally condemn racist attacks targeting Florida State Rep. Angie Nixon, following public remarks directed at the Black lawmaker that invoked racist and derogatory stereotypes.
In a joint statement, CAIR and CAIR-FL said:
“We call on political leaders in Florida and across our nation to condemn these vile, racist attacks on Representative Angie Nixon.
“The hateful words directed at Representative Nixon are the very definition of anti-Black racism. It is unacceptable for so many elected officials to ignore this hate against a Black political leader—especially after so many elected officials have spent weeks obsessing over disputed and debated remarks by Hasan Piker.”
