(WASHINGTON, D.C., 3/17/2017) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today called for a “full and transparent” investigation of allegations that the U.S. military conducted an airstrike on a Syrian mosque, leaving dozens of worshipers dead and injured.
In a statement, CAIR said:
“We call for a full and transparent investigation of allegations that our military killed dozens of Syrian civilians while they were at prayer. The results of this investigation must be made public to either refute the allegations or, if the reports are correct, to take the actions necessary to hold those responsible accountable and to prevent such incidents in the future. The war against ISIS and terrorism can never be advanced over the bodies of Syrian civilians.”
The Washington-based civil rights and advocacy organization urges community members to report any bias incidents to police and to CAIR’s Civil Rights Department at 202-742-6420 or by filing a report at: http://www.cair.com/civil-rights/report-an-incident/view/form.html
CAIR is America’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
La misión de CAIR es mejorar la comprensión del Islam, fomentar el diálogo, proteger las libertades civiles, capacitar a los musulmanes estadounidenses, y construir coaliciones que promuevan la justicia y la comprensión mutua.
