(BOSTON, MA, 9/11/16)  – Massachusetts chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MA) tonight called on state and federal law enforcement authorities to investigate vandalism at a New Hampshire mosque as a possible hate crime.

Officials with the Islamic Society of Greater Nashua tell CAIR-MA that rocks were thrown through the windows of the mosque just after 8 p.m. this evening while worshipers were sitting inside the house of worship.

“Whenever any house of worship is attacked in this manner, law enforcement authorities should investigate a possible bias motive for the crime,†said CAIR-Massachusetts Executive Director Dr. John Robbins.

Robbins noted that the crime occurred on the anniversary of the anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks and at a time of rising Islamophobia nationwide.

CAIR has noted a spike in anti-Muslim discrimination and hate crimes in recent months, which the civil rights groups attributes at least in part to Islamophobic rhetoric used by various public figures.

The Washington-based Muslim civil rights group is asking Muslim community members to report any bias incidents to police and to CAIR's Civil Rights Department at 202-742-6420 or by filing a report at:
