CAIR Calls for Probe of KKK Hate Materials Distributed in Illinois

(WASHINGTON, D.C., 1/8/20) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations, the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today called on law enforcement authorities to investigate the distribution of anti-Semitic, racist and white supremacist Ku Klux Klan (KKK) materials distributed in an Orland Park, Ill., neighborhood.

A Muslim resident reported to CAIR that plastic bags filled with the hate material produced by the “Loyal White Knights of the KKK” were found in the driveways of a number of neighborhood homes on Jan. 5. The material lists a KKK phone line, web address and mailing address in North Carolina. The hate materials have been reported to local police and the FBI.

“Anti-Semites, racists and white supremacists are increasingly emboldened and active across the country in the current political environment,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper. “All Americans must take a stand against the growing bigotry we are seeing nationwide, which is being promoted at the highest levels of our society.”

Yesterday, CAIR welcomed a hate crime charge brought against woman who allegedly attacked an African-American woman in Homer Glen, Ill., while shouting racial slurs.
