(WASHINGTON D.C., 11/9/2021) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today called for an investigation into racist vandalism at a Rhode Island college and welcomed an investigation into racist vandalism at a construction site in Utah.
In Rhode Island, a group of individuals were spotted etching racial slurs into the frost on cars on Providence College’s campus on Saturday night. The college released surveillance footage of the group on Sunday, and confirmed they were not Providence College students.

In Utah, authorities are investigating racist vandalism found on a Facebook data center construction site in Eagle Mountain. The vandalism was found inside a portable bathroom. Police showed photos of the words “Kill a n***** day 11/29” written on the bathroom door. The vandalism is believed to have taken place last Friday night. Investigators believe it will be difficult to find the perpetrator due to the amount of people on the site. Mortensen Construction, the firm overseeing the construction of the data center, have offered a $50,000 reward for information that can help identify the perpetrator.

In a statement, CAIR National Communications Coordinator Ismail Allison said:
“With violent racism and hate on the rise nationwide, disturbing incidents like these must be taken seriously by law enforcement. We urge authorities nationwide to make it clear that acts of racist hate will not be tolerated anywhere in our nation.”
Allison said the American Muslim community and CAIR are standing in solidarity with all those challenging anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, anti-Semitism, and white supremacy.
