(WASHINGTON D.C., 5/31/2022) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today called on Tennessee’s Williamson County Schools to offer an anti-racist curriculum to students and staff following a racist incident targeting a Black student.
On May 2, a student at Ravenwood High School opened his computer to find that the n-word had been typed into the username bar on his login screen. The student who typed the slur was identified the same day, and was given three days of in-school suspension. Following the incident. Ravenwood’s Black Student Alliance developed a revised racial harassment disciplinary policy that they will send to the district for consideration. Ravenwood’s principal supported the proposal.

He said CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, and white supremacy.
