CAIR-Chicago Seeks Staff Attorney
CAIR-Chicago seeks a staff attorney to work in its civil rights department. In addition to assisting in developing strategy for cases, the staff attorney will directly supervise the work of the externs/interns and represent complainants who have experienced religious discrimination.
The staff attorney will file complaints, make court appearances, and represent complainants in negotiations with opposing parties. Forms of discrimination may include, but are not limited to, employment discrimination, police misconduct, immigration, and defamation.
All candidates must be admitted to the Illinois State Bar. The ideal candidate will be organized and demonstrate the ability to follow through the various on-going and newly-assigned case work.
The ideal candidate will also possess excellent oral and written communication skills, and an interest in protecting civil liberties in the United States. Familiarity with immigration law is a plus. Conversational proficiency in Arabic, Urdu, or Farsi is also a plus.
