(DENVER, CO, 12/05/19) – The Colorado chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Colorado), a chapter of the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today called for disciplinary action against a student who allegedly harassed Muslim students at MSU Denver while they were praying in a computer lab.
The incident was captured on video and tweeted by one of the Muslim students.
The students were praying one of the five daily prayers in Islam when a female student allegedly told the two Muslim students, “F”” your religion,” and “F”” you and your family.”
MSU Denver said that it is working to confirm any university and campus affiliation of those involved.

“Our religious freedoms grant us the right to practice our faith publicly and to be free of harassment or intimidation while doing so,” said CAIR-Colorado Acting Board Chair Krista Cole. “We urge MSU Denver to continue investigating this incident and work to ensure all students are comfortable practicing their faith on campus.”
The Washington-based civil rights organization has reported an unprecedented spike in bigotry targeting American Muslims, immigrants and members of other minority groups since the election of Donald Trump as president.
