(WASHINGTON, D.C., 6/13/2023) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned the distribution of flyers promoting the Ku Klux Klan in Kentucky.
Flyers that appeared to be from a Ku Klux Klan group were spread around multiple neighborhoods in Mt. Sterling, Ky., Saturday evening, according to social media posts and the local police department. Residents found the flyers Sunday morning placed on cars, according to Mt. Sterling police. Hate materials were also reportedly found on streets in Paris, Ky.

“We condemn the distribution of this hateful propaganda and stand in solidarity with all those targeted by bigotry,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper. “Communities should come together to repudiate the vile ideology promoted by these flyers.”
He said CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
