(WASHINGTON D.C., 7/13/2022) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned the distribution of neo-Nazi white supremacist recruitment materials in Maine.
Residents of Kittery, Maine, found racist propaganda from the “Nationalist Social Club” scattered throughout the area. The town council condemned the racist group.

“Americans of all faiths and backgrounds must speak out every time hate groups seek to spread their bigoted message and to recruit others to their twisted cause,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper. “We join the residents of Kittery in rejecting hatred and division.”
Hooper added that yesterday, CAIR similarly condemned the distribution of neo-Nazi flyers in Oelwein, Iowa and CAIR’s Minnesota chapter recently condemned the distribution of racist materials in Lino Lakes, Minn. CAIR also condemned racist vandalism of a Maryland church.
He noted that CAIR’s New York chapter welcomed arrests of suspects who allegedly placed racist pamphlets and stickers containing Nazi swastikas in two churches and on several other properties in Hornell, N.Y.
Washington, D.C., based CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy and all other forms of bigotry.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
