(WASHINGTON D.C., 3/17/2022) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned the distribution of white supremacist propaganda on the campuses of the University of Arkansas and the University of South Alabama.
Last month, posters promoting the white supremacist organization Patriot Front were put up around the University of Arkansas campus. On March 7th, the university’s interim chancellor issued a statement reiterating the university’s core values and opposition to hateful ideologies.
Similar posters appeared on the campus of the University of South Alabama last month. The university issued a statement saying police had investigated the incident.
“University administrators and campus leaders nationwide must repudiate white supremacists when they seek to spread their hateful messages to students,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper. “While even bigots have the right to free speech, they do not have the right to vandalize campus property with their hate propaganda.”
He noted that CAIR has previously condemned the activities of Patriot Front hate group.
