CAIR Condemns Fliers Promoting White Supremacy, Anti-Semitism Distributed in Maryland

(WASHINGTON, D.C., 9/13/17) -The Maryland Outreach Department of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned fliers distributed in that state promoting white supremacy and anti-Semitism.

Police say they have received reports of fliers described as “white national propaganda” hung on street signs or telephone poles in Montgomery County that warn of “heritage and culture. . .being ripped away” and the “Jewish media’s indoctrination.” In Chevy Chase, Md., a Jewish family found an anti-Semitic pamphlet on their front door.

“These disturbing posters are yet another example of the mainstreaming of hate and intolerance in society,” said CAIR Maryland Outreach Manager Dr. Zainab Chaudry. “We stand in solidarity with the local Jewish community and condemn these attempts to incite fear and division.”

Yesterday, CAIR called on the Rodgers Forge Community Association in Towson, Maryland to drop discriminatory housing covenants accompanying the deeds of residential properties in Baltimore County’s Rodgers Forge neighborhood.

The Washington-based civil rights organization said it has witnessed an unprecedented increase in hate incidents targeting American Muslims and members of other minority groups since the election of Donald Trump.

CAIR asks community members to report any bias incidents to police and to CAIR’s Civil Rights Department at 202-742-6420 or by filing a report at:

Because of the rise in hate incidents, CAIR recently launched an app to share critical “know your rights” information and to simplify the process to report hate crimes and bias incidents.
