The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned the far-right Israeli government’s reported approval of almost 1,000 racially-segregated housing units in the Illegally-occupied West Bank.
The Peace Now watchdog organization says the 974 new segregated housing units would allow the population of the illegal Efrat settlement to expand by 40 percent and would further block the development of the nearby Palestinian city of Bethlehem.
In a statement, CAIR said:
“The ongoing de facto annexation of the illegally-occupied West Bank through the expansion of racially-segregated illegal settlements is just one aspect of the far-right Israeli government’s ethnic cleansing of the entirety of historic Palestine and of its relentless efforts to block justice for the Palestinian people.”
Washington, D.C., based CAIR quoted the New York Times, which stated today:
“A weekslong Israeli military operation across several West Bank cities has displaced roughly 40,000 Palestinians from their homes, in what historians and researchers say is the biggest displacement of civilians in the territory since the Arab-Israeli war of 1967.”
Earlier this month, CAIR said the Israeli government is moving the genocide from Gaza to the occupied West Bank after Israeli forces drove thousands of people from their homes there, demolished entire neighborhoods, murdered an eight-months pregnant woman and her baby, and ransacked a renowned Palestinian bookstore.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
