(BALTIMORE, MD, 8/5/2022) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned possible bias-motivated vandalism targeting a church in Gambrills, Md., and welcomed the identification of a suspect in the crime.
Police responded to reports of an offensive message written on the door of the Kingdom Celebration Center on Wednesday and said the church had been targeted several times before. Police have identified the suspect as 66-year-old Donald Eugene Hood Jr.

“No community should be targeted with hateful intimidation at their house of worship,” said CAIR’s Maryland Director Zainab Chaudry. “We welcome the identification of a suspect in this case and stand in solidarity with the congregation.”
She said CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, and white supremacy.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
