(BALTIMORE, MD, 5/27/20) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), America’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned racist KKK flyers distributed to residents of a neighborhood in Carroll County, Md., and called on elected officials to denounce the divisive ideology that perpetuates hatred and bigotry against minority communities.

“Racist, xenophobic incidents fueled by white supremacy are occurring at an alarming rate,” said CAIR’s Director in Maryland Zainab Chaudry. “Our collective safety depends on elected leaders taking a stand against these groups’ unabashed attempts to spread their divisive rhetoric.”
Three versions of the flyers containing white supremacist propaganda messaging were reportedly placed in plastic bags weighed down with birdseed and placed on driveways and front lawns. Instructions on the flyer directed callers to a voicemail message from “the Loyal White Knights of the KKK.”
Similar flyers were circulated in Carroll County in November 2018.
