(WASHINGTON D.C., 2/14/22) – The Kentucky chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Kentucky), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned an apparent assassination attempt targeting a mayoral candidate in Louisville, Ky.
Police say a person reportedly fired a weapon at Louisville Democratic mayoral candidate Craig Greenberg in his office Monday morning. Greenberg was not injured, but his clothing was hit. A person has been detained by police. The motive for the shooting attack is not known. Officials say early evidence suggests the shooter acted alone and deliberately targeted Greenberg.

“We condemn this apparent assassination attempt and urge law enforcement authorities to quickly determine the motive for the attack and if there are any other individuals or groups involved,” said CAIR-Kentucky Board Chair Salah Shakir.
