CAIR Condemns Utah N-Word Incident on MLK Day

(WASHINGTON, D.C., 1/23/20) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned the marking of the N-word into ice on a car windshield at the University of Utah on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

“We condemn this disgraceful incident on a day that our nation honors the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr,†said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper. “We are pleased to hear that school officials are taking this matter seriously and we hope whoever is found to be responsible is held accountable.â€Â 

CAIR has reported an unprecedented spike in bigotry targeting American Muslims, immigrants and members of other minority groups since the election of Donald Trump as president.
